Range of Treatment for Low Testosterone

range of treatmentIf you’ve been thinking about getting treatment for low testosterone, you’ve probably been wondering what the treatments actually ARE. Sometimes it seems like all we talk about (or all anyone talks about when it comes to treatment for low testosterone) is what the symptoms of low testosterone are. We all know the symptoms of low testosterone at this point: fatigue, sexual dysfunction, low concentration…the list goes on and on.

But what about treatment for low testosterone? It seems like other testosterone therapy clinics are so focused on getting you in the door that they forget to tell you what they’re actually going to do once you get in there!

We’re sick of how “market-y” some of these clinics get, so we’re going to give you the facts. You have a lot of treatment options if you suffer from low testosterone; Here are just some of the possibilities:

Need Treatment for Low Testosterone? Here Are Your Options

Fortunately, treatment for low testosterone has come a long way since its beginning. Treatment can be easily monitored and administered. Here are some options you have for therapy, courtesy of everydayhealth.com:

Testosterone replacement injections

We have found injections to be the most effective form of treatment for low testosterone, and so that is what we primarily recommend when you come into our clinic. One of the nice things about injections is that you don’t have to do them very often (with the gels, you often have to apply them daily).

If you just want to get it over with and not have to worry about remembering to apply a gel every day, injections may be the right treatment for you.

Testosterone replacement gels

While we recognize that men respond most favorably to injection therapy, some patients are not candidates for traditional testosterone replacement and may benefit from topical (AndroGel, Testim, Axiron, Fortesta) testosterone gel preparations.

These gels are pretty easy to apply, but you have to remember to apply them every day, and some people experience irritation from the gels. Another problem with the gels is that failure rates are much, much higher for this type of medication owing to the inability of 30-40% of men to even absorb enough to improve their testosterone levels.

There are other treatments for low testosterone out there, but these are the ones we focus on. If you are interested in other forms of treatment, we would be happy to discuss your options with you. Every patient is different, and we tailor each treatment to you and your specific needs. We’re here to help guide you through the process, and we want to make sure we can find the best testosterone solution for your specific needs. You can learn more about our process here.
