Spring Running Events Near Hurst Provide Fitness and Fun

Spring is here, and that means it’s time to get outdoors and back to feeling healthier.

Some of us need more than a basic workout or run around the neighborhood to get us motivated, so we’ve put together some suggestions for running events located near Hurst that provide a little something extra.

The Color Frenzy 5K isn’t a race focused on finishing times or serious competition. Its purpose is to get some exercise while having a great time.

All participants who are looking for enjoyment, regardless of their fitness level, are welcome.

The course will guide runners through color wash zones, where you’ll be covered in multiple colors of powder, so expect to get a little messy in the name of good fun and exercise.

The event is free, but be sure to bring some extra cash for t-shirts, tutus, other event-related goods. There may be a parking charge of up to $10.

This annual event put on by Epsilon Lambda chapter of Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Texas at Arlington is a 5K run or walk.

The theme for this year will be a purple color run called “Paint the Campus Purple” and it will be held on the UTA campus.

Proceeds will be donated to SafeHaven of Tarrant County Women’s Shelter and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation to support the fight against domestic violence.

This is a family-friendly event open to all ages—leashed dogs are welcome. Decorated shirts, signs, or other items supporting the fight against domestic violence are encouraged.

The organizers have the following advice:

Leave your earbuds at home for this race! We are bringing the sounds of Friday night stadium lights to the streets!

Four award-winning high school bands from the Keller area will provide live music and entertainment along the course of this 5k running event.

There’s also a 1-mile fun run/walk for those not feeling up to navigating the full-length course.

The fun run begins at 8:00am, and the 5k event starts at 8:30am. Parking is available at Keller Moviehouse and Eatery, Tom Thumb, or other local businesses.

The event will take place regardless of inclimate weather.

(Bill) William J. White, PA-C brings over 20 years of surgical experience to our practice. He is a decorated veteran of the United States Army where he served for nearly 6 years with duty assignments, both here and abroad.   During his military career, Bill was trained as a Certified Surgical Technologist, and following an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he attended Texas Tech University.   He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and went on to attend PA School at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He spent the first 10 years of his career in Neurosurgery.
